Mortar application and content: Vertical no embellishment. In areas where the mortar is scored in squares, the horizontal scoring is usually double, although single lines exist in some areas, particularly in the barn. Vertical lines are almost invariably single.

In areas where the mortar is scored in squares, the horizontal scoring is usually double, although single lines exist in some areas, particularly in the barn. Vertical lines are almost invariably single. Exe-3 McLaughlin Ots-3 in Schyler Lake, which is about 10 miles southeast of West Winfield, has the same mortar scoring characteristics and probably had at least one mason who worked on both structures. Editor's Note: Google Maps street level and satellite views, and Google Earth Pro satellite view suggest that the cobblestone barn was present until sometime between the last visible confirmation on November of 2006 and September of 2008 when it was obviously demolished and removed. The next satellite image of 09/05/2009 shows a new barn constructed on the site as the cobblestone barn.
